Entry Hall at a Hudson Valley Estate
Institute of Classical Architecture & Art
2016 Stanford White Awards

THE GREEK REVIVAL STYLE is indigenous to the Hudson Valley region. Details from other Greek Revival structures in the region, such as the Smithfield Presbyterian Church (designed by Nathaniel Lockwood Jr. in 1848), were referenced to create authenticated custom moldings for the interior and exterior. Antique wood and stone floors, restoration glass, custom paneling and a hand carved stair railing contribute to the romantic quality of the house. Spaces were designed around the clients’ very fine English antique furniture collection to ensure that major pieces would be perfectly positioned.
